First Nations Resources

Bkejwanong First Nation Public Library

The Bkejwanong First Nation Public Library is a great resource for those researching the local history or genealogy of Walpole Island First Nation. Besides the resources held in the library, researchers also have access to the Ancestry Library Edition online database (must be in the library to use this resource.)

Notable resources include:

  • church records for St. John the Baptist Anglican Church (including baptisms, confirmations, marriages, and deaths)
  • Walpole Island Memorials: this collection of community funeral cards covers 1990-2011
  • community newsletters
  • Native Language resources
  • local history books
  • monthly History & Tea Circles which are held on the last Monday of each month, 6-8pm

Kettle and Stony Point First Nation

The research room in the band office of the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation contains a variety of information for those conducting genealogical and local history research of this community.
